Cevera and Sheldon share girls’ tennis player of the year
Emily Cevera and Julianne Sheldon, both of St. John, were named the girls tennis co-county players of the year for the 2019 tennis season. Cevera finished the year 25-1 at first singles after going 22-6 during her junior season.
Sheldon finished the year 24-2 at second singles for the Heralds.
As a team the Heralds were 19-3 in match play and were able to win the Ashtabula County tennis tournament for the third year in a row. Cevera was able to take first place in first singles and Sheldon took first place in second singles during the county tournament.
Todd Nassief, head coach of the Heralds, was named the coach of the year in helping lead the Heralds to their 19-3 season.
The first team singles included Gabbi Selman, of Geneva, Kaitlyn Toth, of Lakeside, Colleen Anderson, of St. John, Meg Jacobs, of Jefferson, Cynthia Seames, of Geneva and Jordan Zee, of Edgewood.
The first team doubles included: Mackenzie Dipofi and Amelia Riddell, of Geneva, Lauren Stark and Maddie Fortney, Geneva, Kassidy Baumgartner and Illiana Mullen, of Lakeside, and Kylie Klug and Delaney McWreath, of Lakeside.
