Three Scots place at Edinboro Open

EDINBORO - Three Edinboro wrestlers placed last Saturday at the Edinboro Open.  The event was held at the Zafirovski Sports & Recreation Dome.  Leading the way was Johnny Greisheimer, who picked up first place at 165 lbs.

Greisheimer, a junior who was wrestling unattached as he redshirts, as he won all five of his matches, including a fall and two major decisions.  Seeded second, he posted a 3-1 decision over top-seeded Eric Hess of Lehigh in the championship match.  Greisheimer just recently moved up to 165 lbs.

Michael DePalma picked up a second place finish as the freshman continued to enjoy an outstanding redshirt campaign.  He dropped a 7-2 decision to Virginia's Derek Valenti, the number seed, in the 149 lb. finals.  DePalma went 3-1 on the day.

Michael Horton picked up a fifth place finish at heavyweight, going 5-2 on the day.  He suffered a 4-2 loss in the second sudden victory session in the consolation semifinals against Michigan State's Mike McClure, who the night before extended Boro starter Ernest James to the final seconds before dropping a 3-1 decision in the dual.  Horton won by forfeit in the fifth place bout.
