CLEVELAND-Five Cleveland area teenagers-all students of Cleveland's School of Rock-will perform from July 3010 at rock venues throughout the Midwest alongside professional bands and with the franchise's most talented young musicians hailing from surrounding states. Students landing a spot on the School of Rock AllStars Tourrepresent the top tier talent coming out of the national music program. In addition to the Midwest Tour, the program features four other touring groups showcasing talented AllStars from the South, East and West Coasts.
Driven by a purpose "to inspire kids to rock on stage and in life," the AllStars Tour gives students the opportunity to perform at prestigious venues and festivals in front of thousands of fans, as well as make a difference in the lives of others. Students on the tour will help drive awareness for LOVE HOPE STRENGTH'S "GET ON THE LIST" campaign by encouraging people to fight blood cancers by signing up to be marrow donors with DKMS Americas-the world's largest bone marrow registry.
Local students making the LOVE HOPE STRENGTH AllStars Tour include Grand Valley High School in Orwell student, Matt Storer, 16, of Middlefield, Westlake High School students Jake Cohen, 17, and Dan Hyland, 16; recent St. Ignatius graduate Evan Nickels, 18, of Westlake, and Normandy High School student Donald Pelc, 17, of Seven Hills.
Returning veteran Nickels, who practices guitar 15 hours a week says, "I'm looking forward to performing in the shows and seeing all the other mujsicians again. Returning AllStar vocalist Matt Storer said, "The best part of performing is the rush of being on stage and being able to spread what you like doing to the audience."
The 2012 LOVER HOPE STRENGTH Tour kicks off with two days of intensive rehearsals at the Chicago Scool of Rock Corporate School, Outside of their short rehearsal stint, students prepa on theor own prior to the 10-day bus tour which stops at the Ribfest in Naperville, ILL. July3, SummerFest in Milwaukee, WIS. July 4-6, Brother Lounge in Cleveland July 8, and oncludes at Warped Tour-one of the biggest live music festivals in the world, which will also feature the Beach Boys and Iron Maiden in Noblesville, IND. on July 10.
