EDINBORO –Just like the lyric from the popular 90s hip-hop song “Tha Crossroads,” residents of the Edinboro area will soon be saying “See you at the Crossroads.” The Crossroads Dinor, the once-popular dining establishment located in the heart of downtown Edinboro, will soon be opening its doors after being closed for over two years.
The popular diner that featured the unforgettable trolley car and middle room will have and additional upscale club car added on after Edinboro resident Garret Leveto took on the renovation project.
“People are anxious for us to reopen,” said Leveto, who got into the restaurant business after seeing that the popular destination was up for sheriff sale. Upon learning of the sale, Leveto’s father Bruce Leveto purchased the diner for $385,000 with the idea of Garret Leveto running the establishment.
So when is the Crossroads Dinor planning on reopening? Garret Leveto, 21, said that he is shooting for early August. Previously, he had hoped for the establishment to be open during the Fourth of July but purchasing a liquor license and renovations that incomplete pushed back the date.
“It won’t be too much longer now,” he said.
When the diner does reopen its doors, patrons will be privy to many of the original features that made the Crossroads a popular destination for food and company.
According to Garret Leveto, the trolley car, which has a 1920s feel to it, will have counter seating and pie cases just like when the diner was originally built. Other features that will be bring Edinboro residents back to their days as youths will be the fully restored stone fireplace, hardwood floors, and who can forget the menu, which consists of made-from-scratch foods.
And while the nostalgia of the trolley car and middle room will bring people in. The newly added Club Car will be a way to dine in comfort and style. The Club Car is a 460 square foot addition that is complete with a copper ceiling, booths as well as table seating, a chair rail, and more than 16 beers to choose from.
Garret Leveto said that the Club Car will have the appearance of being more upscale, but will still provide guests with a relaxed setting where they can feel comfortable bringing their significant other for a night of good food and conversation.
