Mustangs dominate Wildcats

The Grand Valley Mustangs football team improved to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference with a win over the visiting Chalker Wildcats. Grand Valley defeated Chalker 36-0 in their first NAC game of the year.


Grand Valley scored their first points in the game on a safety in the first quarter. Ryan Busser recorded the safety for the Mustangs to put them up 2-0 for the only points in the opening quarter.
Grand Valley went to work in the second quarter with three touchdowns to build a 22-0 lead.
Clayton Takacs scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard touchdown run. Ethan Russell kicked in the extra point, making it 9-0. Grand Valley added another touchdown run to take a 16-0 lead. Logan Newell scored on a 24-yard run for the second touchdown of the quarter. Gordon Seger later found Newell for a 24-yard touchdown pass to put the Mustangs up 22-0 going into halftime.
Grand Valley added two more touchdowns in the third quarter and coasted in the fourth quarter for the 36-0 win.
Logan Newell scored his second rushing touchdown of the game on a two-yard run. Gordon Seger also threw his second touchdown of the game on a 32-yard connection with Jon Soltis.
