Ashtabula County Senior Conference celebrates the senior experience

SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP – Lakeside High School bustled with a different crowd of seniors on Friday, June 9 when the Ashtabula County Senior Services Levy put on its tenth annual senior conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with educational sessions, product and services vendors and a slate of speakers all aiming to promote the conference’s theme of ‘Spanning the Senior Experience.’
The Lakeside gymnasium was packed shoulder-to-shoulder with seniors and vendors’ tables promoting a variety of products and services prior to the beginning of the breakout sessions and the introduction of the day’s speakers.

Local farmer petitions county commissioners for help with proposed CAUV changes

RICHMOND TOWNSHIP – A local farmer spoke to the Ashtabula County Board of Commissioners during a May 30th meeting at Richmond Township Hall and asked that they contact local representatives in the Ohio General Assembly and ask for help for local farmers who are staggering under the weight of significantly higher property taxes owing to the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program.
Proposed changes to CAUV formulation are codified in an amendment to the Ohio biennial budget, which is currently before the Ohio Senate and will likely be part of conference-committee hearings on the budget before they are signed by Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Ground broken for Jefferson Vietnam Veterans Pavilion

JEFFERSON – A sizable crowd of veterans and family members gathered Saturday, May 27, to witness the groundbreaking for the latest addition to the expanding Vietnam War veterans’ memorial near Hayslett Park on Beech Street – a pavilion that will honor and tell the history of the Vietnam War and those who served in that late conflict.

UH moves to Towne Square’s former Sears location

ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP – Beginning on June 1, patients will begin seeing their doctor at University Hospitals’ newest location at Ashtabula Towne Square in the former Sears location at the east end of the mall.
