Lakeside baseball season in jeopardy

Jared Sziber returns as the head coach of the Lakeside Dragons baseball season for his second year. The Dragons were 8-12 a year ago. The Lakeside baseball team were just starting to go live before the delay was brought about by the COVID-19.

Baker and Vencill named to Northeast Lakes All-District first team

The Northeast Lakes All-District teams were recently announced and a pair of girls’ players from Ashtabula County made the first team. Jordan Vencill of Geneva and Kendall Baker of Pymatuning Valley were selected by the Ohio Prep Writers Association.

Lagoa and Wannett advance to state for Lakeside

Jacob Lagao, of Lakeside, and Ethan Wannett, of Lakeside, both qualified for the division I state wrestling tournament on Saturday, March 7. Jacob Lagoa took home the 170lb championship for the Dragons at the District meet held in Mentor. Wannatt was able to claim second place at 120lbs to punch his ticket for state.

Lemponen qualifies for state bowling tournament

Nicole Lemponen, of Lakeside, qualified for the state bowling tournament with a first place win at Stonehedge Lanes in Cuyaghoa Falls on Sunday, Feb. 23rd. Lemponen ended up having the best series of her young career by shooting a 662. Her previous best series was 658.

Coach Bowler earns 200th career win

Edgewood High School head boys basketball coach John Bowler is no stranger to wins, but the one on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 was extra special. Not only was it career win number 200 for Bowler, but his 13th seeded Warriors upset 4th seed VA-SJ by a final score of 95 to 94 to advance to the next round.
