Cevera and Sheldon share girls’ tennis player of the year

Emily Cevera and Julianne Sheldon, both of St. John, were named the girls tennis co-county players of the year for the 2019 tennis season. Cevera finished the year 25-1 at first singles after going 22-6 during her junior season.

Pirates advance in Division IV playoffs

The Perry Pirates advanced in the Division IV, Region 13 high school playoffs with a lopsided win over the visiting Indians. Perry led 42-0 at halftime and went on to win 48-7. With the win Perry improved to 11-0 on the season and will face CVCA.

Furman takes over as Jefferson girls’ basketball coach

TJ Furman takes over as the head coach of the Jefferson Falcons girls’ basketball team. The Falcons finished last year 12-12 and 6-8 in the NE8 conference. Furman was hired last spring to take over for Steve Locy.

Lakers turn around season to claim NAC crown

The Pymatuning Valley Lakers football team defeated the Windham Bombers 42-0. The Lakers started the season 0-4 and then went on to rattle off five wins to finish the season 5-5 and 4-0 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference.

Warriors win battle of the bridge over Dragons

ASHTABULA – The Edgewood Warriors football team was able to hold off the Lakeside Dragons during a 28-26 win to claim the battle of the bridge. It was a big win for the Warriors who were coming off of four straight losses to the Dragons.

Pirates hoist fourth straight CVC Championship flag in win

On Friday night the Perry Pirates rolled to 9-0 with a big home victory over the visiting Geneva Eagles by a final score of 36 to 7. This victory earned the Pirates their fourth straight Chagrin Valley Conference title!

Warriors take down Red Raiders

The Edgewood Warriors picked up their third win of the season with a road win against the Harvey Red Raiders. Edgewood defeated Harvey 32-26 to improve to 3-6 on the year and 1-5 in the Chagrin Valley Conference. With the loss Harvey fell to 1-8 on the year and 0-6 in the conference.

Eagles drop tightly contested match to Lions

The Geneva Eagles volleyball team fell to the NDCL Lions in a recent Division II district semifinal game. The Lions defeated the Eagles 27-25, 25-15, 26-24. NDCL used the momentum from a close first set to help propel them to the three set win.
