RAM Clinic to return April 5-7
JEFFERSON - The Remote Area Medical Clinic is returning to Ashtabula County on April 5-7, and county officials expect it to be bigger than last year.
Commissioner J.P. Ducro IV shared during a recent meeting with elected officials that, last year, the RAM Clinic helped 948 people receive more than $480,000 of free care.
“We expect the event to be larger this year, in large part because of [State Rep. John] Patterson’s efforts to get some legislation passed to allow out-of-state participants to come,” Ducro said.
Ashtabula County had the first-ever RAM Clinic in Ohio this past April.
Remote Area Medical (RAM) is a major nonprofit provider of mobile medical clinics. Its mission is to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free, quality healthcare to those in need. RAM does this by delivering free dental, vision and medical services to underserved and uninsured individuals.
RAM brings truckloads of medical equipment and coordination help to give those in need free medical care, but the program depends on local volunteers, from people getting patients where they need to be, handling paperwork, to doctors, dentists and optometrists and assistants.
The second clinic will once again be held at the Ashtabula Towne Square, Friday through Sunday, April 5-7, 2019.
Services offered will include free medical, dental and vision care.
New this year, participants will be able to receive vouchers for free pet care, such as spay or neuter services.
There are no special qualifications to be treated at RAM. No names are requested or proof of income.
Donors and volunteers are needed for the event.
